State of Digital Transformation : Spotlight on Uno Minda

My quick take on what they are doing very well:-

👉 Among all the players analyzed Uno Minda is one of the strongest players in the product design space. INITIA divison specializing in design research and modeling is key to their strong competence in the space.

👉 Implementation of solutions for centralized supplier management is now becoming an industry standard. Good to see Uno Minda adopting it.

👉 Moderately good solutions for IIOT led OEE improvements and quality assurance

👉 Strong play in post-manuafcturing Industry 4.0 solutions for inventory management and after-sales, packaging 4.0

👉 Biggest plus is 360 degrees focus across both pre-manufacturing and post manufacturing Industry 4.0 capabilities

Strong Case : Deployment of complete suite of cybersecurity solutions was not expected by me. It shows foresight as when physical machines are connected with cloud and online data-transfer happens, data breaches and impersonation also happens. Good to see deployment of all Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Data Leak Prevention (DLP), Data Classification Systems (DCS), Identity & Access Management (IDAM) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Outsourcing opportunities in ongoing initiatives:-

1. OEE initiatives as mentioned above are moderate in nature and thus OEE levels are not breaching the 70-75% levels compared to their peer average of 82%

2. Current focus is nascent on granular cost analytics and predictive spend analytics. Outsourcing providers can look to grab a share of pie in this bucket

3. Handholding is needed in implementation of gen AI use cases which are currently absent even when business use cases exist

4. Improvements in waste management techniques has been limited in last fiscal and needs upliftment. Compliance is maintained but incremental gains are missing currently

5. While many traditional IT providers are already present in the account, there is scope for both displacement and new wallet development!
