Did you understand what Ericsson did recently by forming a new company with 12 global telcos?
They are transforming network from a static commodity to a dynamic platform. Let me explain - Consider the newly formed company as a restaurant and now read below:-

Traditional Restaurant : A Static Menu
Imagine a restaurant that has a fixed menu (the network) with set prices. Customers can only order what’s on the menu, and the restaurant doesn’t allow any changes or new dishes. This is similar to how mobile networks have traditionally been viewed—static and limited in their offerings
New Perspective: A Culinary Platform
Now, imagine if that restaurant transformed into a culinary platform. Instead of just offering a fixed menu, it invites various chefs (developers) to create their own dishes using the restaurant's kitchen (the network)
Dynamic Dishes: The restaurant provides advanced cooking tools and high-quality ingredients (network capabilities like authentication and performance) that chefs can use to innovate and create unique dishes (new applications)
Collaboration: Different chefs can collaborate, sharing ideas and recipes. This is like inviting various players in the ecosystem to build on the network, making it easier for them to work together.
Open Kitchen: The kitchen is now open for all chefs to see and use, allowing them to experiment and create dishes that appeal to customers. This mirrors how opening up networks makes it easier for developers to create applications that work across different telecom operators.
Standardized Recipes: The restaurant standardizes certain recipes (APIs), so no matter which chef is cooking, customers know what to expect. This ensures consistency and interoperability across different dishes (applications).
Smart Cooking: By integrating smart kitchen technology (AI and machine learning), the restaurant can optimize cooking times and ingredient usage, enhancing the overall dining experience.
What will change?
Higher innovation -> Higher possibility of monetizable opportunities -> May lead to better ARPU for all telcos (will cover in next blog, how this dream seems far)
